Home Buyer Tax Credit Expires

Good Afternoon,

Today marked the first deadline for the Home Buyers Tax Credit program. In order to qualify for the tax credit, you must be under contract on a house, and close by June 30, 2010.

Just because the tax credit program has ended, does not mean you should be discouraged from looking at buying your home. It is still a strong buyers market and interest rates are still attractively low.

Plano ISD: "Get Involved With School" Mobile Computer Lab

Plano ISD has found an inventive way to reach out to families of the community.  This week, Plano ISD unveiled the newest addition to the school district, a mobile computer lab.  The traveling van has 13 computers on board and a bilingual staff to assist parents with any questions or issues.  The plan is to give parents access to students school reports, teach internet and Microsoft skills, and English language programs. There are several similar concepts in Texas, but they have all been focused on students.

The district used $300,000 in stimulus funds to get the mobile computer lab on the road.  "The primary goal is to build relationships with parents and to create pathways back to the school building" said Cathy Galloway, Plano ISD's executive director of student and family services.
