Cheap Ideas to Spruce Up Your Kitchen

We all know the economy is tough, but sometimes you want a new look. You don't have to spend thousands of dollars to update, modernize and give a new look to your kitchen. Here are a few, do it yourself, weekend projects for a fresh kitchen.
  • Update Your Backsplash- There are two options: grout and tile or a new peel and stick tile that goes directly on a clean wall. Check your local hardware store for this quick one day home project.
  • Refurnish Your Appliances - Home Depot and Lowe's sell appliance paint or stainless steel paint. Lightly sand your appliances, and then spray with these spray can paints for a new set of appliances.
  • Repaint/ Varnish Your Cabinets- One can of varnish goes a long way in giving your cabinets a whole new design, change light tan to dark cherry wood with a few paint strokes of varnish.
  • Make Your Own Concrete Counter tops- This project will probably take you a couple of weekends and upwards of $500, but you can redo your counter tops at home with a kit from concreteexchange.com
